Our paediatric physiotherapy service supports infants, children and adolescents with developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal and movement-related concerns. Assessment and rehabilitation are adapted to the child’s age, interests, abilities and family goals.
How paediatric physiotherapy can help
Children may be referred when movement, strength, coordination, pain or an injury is affecting play, school, sport or everyday participation.
- Developmental delay and delayed motor milestones
- Balance, coordination and movement difficulties
- Neurological and neuromuscular conditions
- Musculoskeletal pain and growing-related concerns
- Sports injuries and return to activity
- Strength, mobility, posture and functional capacity
A positive, child-centred assessment
The first appointment includes a conversation with the child and their parent or caregiver, followed by age-appropriate observation and assessment of the movements and activities that matter to them. We explain our findings clearly and agree on practical goals together.
Play with a clinical purpose
Sessions may use games, obstacle courses, balls, balance activities, strengthening and functional tasks to develop skills while keeping the child engaged. Home activities are made realistic for family routines rather than becoming another burden.
Working with the child’s wider team
With family consent, we can collaborate with GPs, paediatricians, schools, support coordinators and other allied-health professionals so care is connected across home, education, sport and the community.
